Community groups invited to #ColourTheBorough with tulip bulb giveaway
Bedford Borough Council is offering local community groups the chance to #ColourTheBorough as part of the annual tulip bulb giveaway.
Each year, as the floral displays along The Embankment begin to fade away, Bedford Borough Council invites community groups to collect an allocation of tulip bulbs that can be replanted elsewhere in the borough. Previous recipients of bulbs include Parish Council's, schools, religious groups, community gardens, nature groups, scouts, brownies, care homes, hospices and resident associations.
The scheme, which is always popular and often over-subscribed, allows community groups to replicate some of the beauty of The Embankment's floral displays in their own areas, adding colour and vibrancy to the wider borough.
Community groups that would like to collect some tulip bulbs should contact bugsandbees@bedford.gov.uk by Monday 29 May to make a request. When requesting bulbs, please ensure you specify the group you represent and the intended location where you will plant the bulbs.
Eligible groups will be contacted with the date, time and location of the tulip bulb giveaway, where the bulbs will be distributed on a first-come-first served basis.
