Council and communities come together to discuss Cost of Living Crisis
Bedford Borough residents, partner organisations from public services, the voluntary, community and housing sectors recently met for a Cost of Living Crisis information sharing session co-chaired by the Mayor Dave Hodgson and the Portfolio Holder for Health, Public Health and Wellbeing.
This was the first meeting of the newly launched Health and Wellbeing Champion Network, which builds upon the COVID-19 and Faith Leader networks, which were established during the pandemic. The Health and Wellbeing Champions will work with the council and local NHS partners to share accurate and reliable health and wellbeing information with people in their local communities.
Dave Hodgson, Mayor of Bedford Borough said "From utility bills to the price of our weekly shop, many people are struggling at the moment in all of the Borough's communities - sadly the Cost of Living Crisis is hitting many residents hard. Unfortunately, all the signs are that things will get harder for people over winter. As a council, we continue to press the central government for more support so we can help those most at risk. The continued commitment from residents to share accurate and timely information with their communities is hugely valuable to the residents of Bedford Borough."
