Council sets out plan to further improve ‘Good’ Children’s Services
Following Bedford Borough Council's Children's Services being rated 'Good' by Ofsted earlier this year, the Council has released a report outlining the steps it is taking to improve even further. The report shows that all of these steps are either on track for completion or have already been completed this year.
Chair of Children's Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Councillor Hilde Hendrickx said "Our Children's Services team have done brilliantly to achieve the 'Good' rating from Ofsted. It is vital that we are offering quality support to vulnerable children across the Borough.
"I am also very glad that the Council are continuing to take action to make improvements. It is important to have a long term plan in place so that our children can access the quality care they require for years to come."
Some of the steps already completed include further training for staff caring for disabled children, implementing more frequent visits to children allocated to social workers and more regular reviews of children's progress. Other actions that have already begun include expanding the Corporate Parenting Network and setting up quarterly meetings to promote opportunities and wellbeing for Looked After Children.
