Dave Delivers - A Record of Action
Mayor Dave Hodgson has a record of saving services, standing up for Bedford Borough, creating jobs and working hard to get the best for all communities across the borough. He's standing in Thursday's mayoral election on that record:
JOBS: Rapid jobs growth means 16,000 more people are now in work than when Mayor Dave was first elected.
SERVICES SAVED: Mayor Dave has saved services and saved libraries, children's centres and leisure centres from closure despite massive government funding cuts.
LEADERSHIP: Dave helped lead the successful fight to save Putnoe Walk-in Centre and Bedford Hospital from a major downgrade.
DELIVERING KEY PROJECTS: Completion of the Bedford Western Bypass, the popular Riverside Bedford development, new schools and school buildings.
ENVIRONMENT: Mayor Dave has reduced the Council's carbon emissions by around 50%, saving energy and reducing running costs on behalf of local taxpayers.
KEEPING TAX DOWN: Core council tax rises have been kept below 2% every year since the last election. This year's below-inflation rise was lower than 93% of councils nationwide.
Commenting, Mayor Dave said: "That's my record, and I'm standing on that and a promise of more. Across the country in recent years communities have suffered widespread cuts to services and closures of cherished facilities such as libraries. But not in Bedford Borough. Don't put that at risk - please support me in the Mayoral election on Thursday."
