Elstow, Stewartby and Kempston Hardwick Echo from Cllr Tim Hill, April 2016

8 Apr 2016
Cllr Tim Hill

Dear Resident
This is the latest of my regular electronic community newsletters from me as your local Liberal Democrat Borough Councillor.

Since my last Elstow, Stewartby and Kempston Hardwick Echo, here are some of the issues I have progressed, in some cases with the help of the relevant Parish Council:

Ward Wide

I have been trained as a Speedwatch volunteer to do Speedwatch sessions. I and other volunteers from outside Stewartby did two sessions in March - both at 8am-9am - on 18th at low numbers of Stewartby Way and on 21st at Stewartby Way/Wavell Close junction. We logged a total of 15 offenders whose details will be logged by Beds Police and sent a warning letter. Should they be logged three times anywhere in the County, they will get a personal visit from Beds Police.

Elstow.
- Enforcement of speeding on Wilstead Road.

- Safety of High Street/Church End junction.

- Inconsiderate parking on Hillesden Avenue estate, West End and in Wigram Close.

- Rights of way at Wigram Close/High Street and Halesowen Drive/Croyland Drive junctions.

- Broadband speed on Sandleford Drive and Croyland Drive.

- Litter and dog litter on Progress Way, High Street, Romsey Way green area, Bunyans Mead green and in both ends of Elstow Brook.

- State of road surface in Lynn Close.

- State of pavements in Bunyans Mead.

- Abbey View development access.

- Potential developer of shop by Abbey Fields Health Centre.

- Possible car business activities in Hillesden Avenue estate.

- Fencing down between West End and Progress Way.

I have also held an Advice Surgery in Bayham Close/Tewkesbury Road.

Stewartby and Kempston Hardwick.

- Average Speed Cameras on Stewartby Way - I am sorry to report 71 drivers in Feb 16 put resident's lives at risk by speeding along Stewartby Way. All will be prosecuted, including the several repeat offenders, who of course will be issued with a ticket for each offence.

- Day-to-day management issues including mud on Broadmead Road - Stewartby Park development. A S151 notice has now been served on the developers and they have been charged for Borough cleansing costs.

- Mud on Green Lane caused by lorries not being properly wheel-washed at the FCC tip.

- Potential developer of shop in space set aside on Stewartby Park Phase 1 development.

- Brickmakers Arms - Due to the lack of any constructive response from the London-based owner, legal and other work is now under way to clear the site and pursue a possible joint development of the whole site.

- Flooding of Broadmead Road - between Rose Cottage and Broadmead Farm.

- Flooding of Pillinge Road.

- Village Hall windows. My appreciation must go to the Parish Council, in particular to Cllr Sally Law, for all their work they have done on this Project.

- Planning Application for double-glazing at the Sir Malcolm Stewart Homes.

- Ensuring footpaths are clear in Churchill Close.

- "Adoption" by Borough of School Lane.

- Planning Application for three houses in the garden of 40, Churchill Close.

- Parking on footpaths in Kitchener Place.

- Stewartby Mains Compensation - Railway Cottages.

- Resolving the flooding at the railway bridge near the Railway Cottages.

- Traffic on Manor Road.
