Energy Advice Service - Citizens Advice Bedford
Citizens Advice Bedford are providing one-to-one energy advice to people this winter.
Citizens Advice Bedford can deliver this advice to people over the telephone or via a pre booked face to face appointment, with all relevant Coronavirus protective measures followed.
The trained energy advisers can assist people with any energy related issue but some of the most common are:
- To understand their bills and the type of meter they have and how to read the meter
- Comparing prices with different suppliers and explaining the switching process - there is no obligation to switch suppliers, we advise people on their options and it is up to them to decide what they would like to do (if they decide to switch and require assistance with switching, we can help them with this process)
- Checking whether people can claim for assistance through their supplier's 'Warm Home Discount' scheme - if somebody successfully applies for this, they will receive £140 towards their energy bills. We can also assist people applying for this if required
- Exploring people's eligibility for further assistance through the 'priority services register' and assisting them to apply if required
- Advising people on energy efficiency measures and any improvement grants that they may be eligible for
Last year's energy programme saw an average annual saving of £174.
