Fireworks at Bedford's Big Christmas Lights Switch-On

Bedford's Christmas Lights Switch-On event is taking place tomorrow, Wednesday 26th November, with a spectacular firework display set to mark the start of the Christmas period in Bedford in dramatic fashion. The free family event kicks off at 7pm, along The Embankment, with people of all ages invited to attend to enjoy the entertainment including music, lights and fireworks.

Everyone is invited to attend this free Christmas event when Bedford Borough Council will light up the town with another magnificent firework display to mark the start of the Christmas period.

The 'switch on', which attracts thousands of people to line the Embankment and enjoy the spectacle, this year also marks the start of late night Christmas shopping in town every Wednesday in the run-up to Christmas.

Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "The Christmas Lights Switch-On is always a hugely popular event for all the family. We look forward once again to seeing thousands of people coming together to enjoy the occasion and mark the start of the Christmas season in Bedford in style.

"This year's switch-on is the first of numerous exciting events in Bedford this festive season. It coincides with the first evening of late-night shopping, so why not kick-start your Christmas shopping before walking along the Embankment from Town Bridge to enjoy the show?

"It all kicks off from 7pm, so get there early to get a good spot and help welcome Father Christmas to Bedford!"

There will be free late night parking on the night in River Street, Allhallows and Lurke Street car parks, from 5.30pm, courtesy of BedfordBID.
