Bedford Borough Council continues its crackdown on fly-tippers. A fly-tipper has been fined this month for illegally dumping a painting next to a clothes and shoe collection point. The person responsible was identified by the Council's Environmental Crime Team using footage from the site in Great Denham.

Councillor Charles Royden, Portfolio Holder for Environment said "I would like to thank our Environmental Crime Team who have been invaluable in helping us crack down on fly-tipping here in Bedford Borough. We want to highlight that fly-tipping is a criminal offence, and are seeking to clamp down and enforce any case we possibly can, either through the issue of a Fixed Penalty Notice or through a prosecution. Fly-tipping can ruin our countryside and our communities, we will continue to raise awareness that it is criminal and unacceptable. If you witness an incident of fly-tipping, please report it as soon as you can to give our officers the best chance of catching the perpetrators."

Bedford Borough Council is taking fly-tipping very seriously, not only does it make a mess but it is illegal. This is just one of over 100 Fixed Penalty Notices issued this year to people caught fly-tipping. Enforcement teams work tirelessly to find and prosecute people who are carrying out unlawful activities. Councillor Royden added, "Please only take clothes to clothes banks, make sure you put the clothes in the bank and don't leave any items outside them. If the bank is full let us know".
