Mayor Dave Hodgson cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of Riverside Bedford today - and the Grand Opening continues through the weekend with a wide array of free family fun, offers and activities on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September.

The entertainment on offer will include free tastings, live music, voucher giveaways and other activities.

The weekend's entertainment follows Friday's ribbon cutting, which saw Mayor Dave Hodgson joined by Bedford's London 2012 Olympic Gold Medallist Etienne Stott MBE to cut the ribbon, with the Bedford Town Band, stilt walkers and some storm troopers also in attendance!

Commenting, Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "If you haven't experienced Riverside Bedford for yourself yet, this weekend is an ideal opportunity, with a wide array of events and entertainment to enjoy.'

"I'm delighted that we've cut the ribbon on Riverside Bedford, which will help to fulfil our vision of a town centre which continues to buck the trend by attracting people for retail and also for leisure, culture, food and drink and more.'

"So do sample Riverside Bedford, which is intended to bring new footfall for new and existing traders, and to give people even more reasons to visit and enjoy Bedford."
