GCSE Results Show Outstanding Improvement

23 Aug 2013

In spite of the exam boards' uncertainty over grade boundaries, Bedford Borough has seen outstanding progress in provisional GCSE results this year - bucking the national trend. Overall results for 5 A*-C GCSE's (including English and Mathematics) for Bedford Borough Schools is 60.1% compared to 54.5% in 11/12 - this is a 5.6% improvement.

Cllr Henry Vann, Portfolio Holder for Education at Bedford Borough Council, said: "Congratulations to all those receiving results today and to all those who helped you achieve those results. The overall GCSE results were excellent and build on the progress which saw 94% of Bedford Borough schools inspected by Ofsted last year judged to be either good or outstanding. These results are testament to the hard work of teachers, pupils, parents, school leaders, governors and the whole school communities who work tirelessly for every child in the borough."
