Get Down to the Athletics Stadium Tomorrow and 'Run with the Stars!'
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity presents itself tomorrow, as the world class Kenyan athletes who have been here in Bedford this week taking part in a range of community activities give local residents the chance to 'Run With the Stars.'
The event takes place at Bedford International Athletics Stadium, where at 2.10pm and then again at 3.10 pm members of the public are invited to come along and take part in a run with these world-leading athletes:
Catherine Ndereba - two-time world marathon champions, ex world record holder for marathon.
Duncan Kibet - second fastest ever over marathon distance for men.
Benjamin Limo - world champion over 5000m.
Sammy Wanjiru, reigning Olympic marathon champion and London marathon winner 2009.
I met the the athletes again last night, and I must say how tremendously impressed I have been with the enthusiastic way they have thrown themselves into the community activities they have undertaken, including visits to a number of schools, spending time with the patients on the children's ward at Bedford Hospital and supporting a talent identification day for young disabled athletes. We really are privileged to have them here with us this week, and I would encourage people to get along to the athletics stadium tomorrow for what is a wonderful opportunity.
