Goldington Family Centre Rated Good By Ofsted
Enthusiastic and committed leaders and a focus on individual support are just two of the reasons Goldington Family Centre has achieved a Good rating from Ofsted in its latest report, released on Friday 31 October.
A high priority given to safeguarding children and an increase in service users are among other highlights which have seen the Bedford Borough Council service vastly improve since an inadequate rating last year.
The Goldington Family Centre network consists of three other Children's Centres, which all receive the same grading: Bedford Central Children's Centre, Putnoe Children's Centre, Riversmeet Children's Centre.
Cllr Henry Vann, Portfolio Holder for Education at Bedford Borough Council, said: "This is great news for the families who use and will use the Centres. We have ensured that our Children's Centres remain open and we are committed to providing families access to a range of services and support to give them the best possible start. Most two-year-olds are now taking up their free education place in good or better settings - it is great to see that the Goldington Family Centre is delivering such positive outcomes and we hope to further build on this success; well done to everyone involved at the Centres."
Local Lib Dem Cllr for Goldington, Sylvia Gillard said: "I am a Trustee of the charity "Goldington Family Centre" and have been for more than 30 Years. In all that time, the charity has supported vulnerable families in Goldington, and continues the excellent work to this day. They are now running the Children's Centre alongside their family support work, and are justifiably proud of their recent "good" grading from Ofsted."
