In good news for Stewartby residents, a significant change has been announced for the planned power station at Rookery South Pit. Instead of building six new 45m pylons, Millbrook Power have decided to install an underground cable feed- hugely reducing the visual impact of the whole project.

However, there is more work to be done to ensure that this scheme delivers all it can for local residents; Cllr Tim Hill is lobbying for this to be used an opportunity to introduce gas into Stewartby, which currently has no gas provision at all.

Local Councillor for Elstow and Stewarbty,Tim Hill said "It is nonsense that a gas-fired power station will be built within shouting distance of Stewartby, and residents of the village still won't get the opportunity to have gas for their homes- I will work hard on behalf of residents to make this happen. I will also be lobbying the developers for funding to resurface Green Lane, and for improvements to Stewartby Rail Station."
