Government failing first time home-buyers
Responding to reports that the proportion of parents lending money to their children for housing deposits has risen to 27%, Liberal Democrat Housing campaigner Dean Crofts, said "A broken housing market that routinely relies on parents lending cash to young home-buyers flies in the face of fairness."
Dean added "Not only does this inhibit social mobility, preventing those without wealthy parents from getting on the property ladder, but it is also symptomatic of the deep intergenerational divide. Ministers must help first time buyers by making deposits more affordable through Government-backed tenancy deposit loans. Unless the Tories take radical steps to help fix our broken housing market, they will continue to fail this country's young people."
