Great Big Green Week 2022

This weekend sees the start of Great Big Green Week with lots of activities throughout the week.

On Saturday there will be a Flower Flash in Bedford Town Centre, the event is run by local flower growers with a floral extravaganza in Silver Street.

  • Saturday will also see a special 'Field to Jam Jar' experience in Oakley and Bedford Repair Café will help fix broken things to ensure they can continue to be used.
  • Sunday will see a Community Litter Pick near the embankment starting from the Kiosk in Russell Park at 11am. There will also be a guided park walk in Priory Country Park, booking is essential.
  • Monday The Place Theatre will be holding a discussion on alternatives to single use plastic.
  • Tuesday there will be a virtual discussion on circular living for Bedfordshire.
  • Wednesday will see another guided park walk in Priory Country Park, again booking is essential.
  • Thursday will see a Climate Coffee Morning at the Green Earth Café, St Paul's Square in Bedford between 10am-12pm.
  • Friday will see a behaviour change training event looking at littering at The Place Theatre.

The Panacea Museum in Bedford will be hosting a green book, plant and swap event throughout Great Big Green Week.

On Saturday 1st October The Higgins Bedford will be holding a Great Big Green Fun Palaces event. Where you can find out more about our local wildlife, how to support biodiversity, what geology can tell us about climate crisis and much more. There will also be a plant stall run by The Higgins Garden Volunteers.
