I was grateful today for the opportunity to visit Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Sikh Temple in Queens Park. The magnificent Gurdwara is one of those serving the large and vibrant local Sikh community.

The foundation stone was laid in 1999 and the temple was opened in 2007. It is a spectacular building visible from a great distance. The Gurdwara is built of pink Indian granite as specified by the architect to replicate the appearance of Indian Gurdwaras. The stone masons also came from India. The original building is a former social club and will be retained, linked to the new temple to serve as a community hall.

It provides a place of worship, community, educational and sporting facilities. GNG Tigers youth football team play in a local league.

For more information contact the Gurdwara on 266531.
