In a short messge in which he looks ahead to a big year in store for Bedford Borough, Mayor Dave Hodgson has wished a very happy new year to all. He also highlights the new series of Bedford Borough Resolutions which will appear here on mayordave.org.uk over the coming days. Here's Mayor Dave's message in full:

"A very happy new year to all. 2015 holds a huge amount of promise for Bedford Borough, as we look to see the remarkable growth in employment continue, while major regeneration continues in Bedford Town Centre. This includes the end of the decades-long wait for a new bus station in the early part of the year and the start of construction work on the return of town centre cinema and on two new public riverside squares.'

"There are, as usual, an exciting array of events scheduled, with the Kite Festival, Bedfringe and much more on offer. There really is so much to see and do in Bedford Borough, and getting out and about and enjoying all the Borough has to offer will feature in a series of ideas for 'Bedford Borough Resolutions' which will appear on MayorDave.org.uk over the coming days to mark the new year.'

"There are also important elections taking place in May. In the Mayoral elections, I am obviously hoping for the opportunity to continue what we have started, attracting new investment and jobs and saving services and facilities which have been lost elsewhere, while keeping council tax down for hard-pressed local house households."

Whatever is in store, 2015 is set to be a memorable year for Bedford Borough. I hope that it's a happy one for you and your loved ones."
