Help Us Avoid a Local Lockdown This Half Term
With announcements that large parts of the country are moving further up the national COVID tiers Mayor Dave Hodgson has asked everyone to pull together to keep each other safe and avoid a Liverpool-style lockdown.
Bedford Borough is currently in the 'medium' local COVID alert level. This has the lowest levels of restrictions.
However cases have risen considerably since the summer and having seen more places added to the 'High' and 'Very High' alert levels the Council is reminding everyone to follow 'rule of 6' and the 'Hands, Face, Space' advice; wash their hands regularly, wear a face covering, and keep 2m away from others.
To help slow the spread of the virus, everyone is encouraged to:
- Not meet in groups larger than six
- Limit the number of people that they come into contact with to limit the spread
- To meet outdoors wherever possible
Mayor Dave said "We're seeing daily reports of more places going in to higher COVID tiers, with more restrictions put in place. Now more than ever we need to make sure we all continue to follow the guidance to reduce the spread of the virus and avoid a Liverpool-style local lockdown and the damage that could do to the local economy.'
"Please continue to limit your contact with people you don't live with, don't meet in groups any larger than six, and remember Hands, Face, Space."
