Huge investment will make life easier for carers - Burstow

17 Nov 2010

Commenting on the Government announcement to provide guaranteed respite care by making £400m available to carers, Liberal Democrat Care Services Minister, Paul Burstow said:

"This huge investment will make life a little bit easier for carers who are some of the most unsung heroes across the country.

"This is a manifesto commitment that the Liberal Democrats are delivering in Government."

Commenting further on the introduction of personal care budgets, Paul Burstow said:

"The Coalition Government is moving away from one-dimensional, like-it-or-lump-it health services to a system where the patient is in the driving seat.

"We have ensured that people, not service providers, have control of their care. Personal budgets will mean that care is provided according to what people need, not what the Government dictates."
