Improvement works at St Peter’s Car Park

Cllr Charles Royden

Starting this week, major improvement works are being carried out at St Peter's car park.

These works will see the entire car park resurfaced with some parts being rebuilt entirely, replacing the drainage system and making changes to the surface levels to help stop standing water, and relaying the kerbs with some upgrades to the pavement.

These works require the car park to be closed for 6 weeks. During this time, Lurke Street multi-storey car park will be reopened to provide parking for those undergoing essential travel.

Councillor Charles Royden, Portfolio Holder for Transport and Highways said "Following exploratory works earlier this year, we are now ready to carry out these improvement works in this town centre car park. This car park has been in need of improvements for some time now, and I am delighted that we are able to deliver these works and bring this car park back to a high quality. We are opening Lurke Street multi-storey car park to provide necessary parking for essential journeys. Thank you for your patience as we carry out these works."
