Happy Jamaican Independence Day.

To celebrate Bedford Borough Council are flying the Jamaican flag at the Old Town Hall.

The flag will stay up all weekend and Saturday will see a family-friendly celebration of Jamaican culture in Harpur Square supported by Mayor Dave Hodgson's Town Centres Fund.

The event will start at midday and go on until 6pm with apperances from Levi Roots, BBC Repair Shop's Jay Blades and BBC Radio 1Xtra's Seani B as well as a host of other musicians, dancers, singers and speakers. There will also be Jamaican food, a bar, face-painting and arts and crafts.
