John Bunyan rapid testing site relocating to Faraday Community Centre
The rapid Coronavirus testing centre is moving to Faraday Community Centre to enable the reopening of the John Bunyan Sports & Fitness Centre for leisure activities.
At 7pm on Thursday 6 May 2021, rapid testing at the John Bunyan Sports & Fitness Centre will stop before starting again at a new rapid testing centre, located at the Faraday Community Centre, from 7am on Tuesday 11 May.
Those who are over 18, are not showing symptoms and would like to get tested while the centre is closed can do so by collecting a rapid testing kit from Bedford Borough libraries, participating pharmacies, or by ordering them online at www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests.
A borough council spokesperson said, "It is really important that as restrictions are lifted and businesses get the opportunity to reopen, they are able to do so. That is why the decision has been made to move the rapid covid-19 testing centre located at the John Bunyan Centre to the Faraday Community Centre. Rapid testing kits for those without symptoms and PCR tests for those with symptoms will still be available across Bedford Borough while the sports & fitness centre is closed."
People who are showing symptoms including a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss in their sense of taste or smell should immediately self-isolate and book a PCR test by visiting www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
