Kempston Mill Bridge Reopens
Work has now been completed on the refurbuishment of the Kempston Mill Bridge.
The right of way over this bridge was closed due to rotting planks causing structural concerns, making the bridge unsafe. As the bridge was privately owned, the process to assess, procure and organise the works had been slower than was hoped. However the bridge has now been reopened two weeks ahead of schedule.
Mayor Dave Hodgson said "This is fantastic news for the people of Kempston. Well done to the local residents who came together with the Council and contractors to get this bridge repaired and reopened."
Local Liberal Democrat Campaigner Linda Jack said "I would like to thank the Council and the contractor for getting this sorted two weeks ahead of the original expected opening day. This will allow the public to have greater acess to this stunning part of Kempston once again."
Please be aware that the bridge will just be reopened to pedestrians and fencing will be left up to prevent any vehicles using it.
