Kite Festival Returns, As One of a Huge Array of Events Across Bedford Borough this Weekend
This weekend sees the hugely popular Bedford Kite Festival return to Russell Park, as one of a huge range of events taking place across Bedford Borough this weekend.
The 13th Annual Kite Festival is on today, Saturday 6th, and Sunday 7th June between 10am and 5pm. In addition to spectacular displays by international kite-fliers from around the world, the event sees Russell park jam-packed with food stalls and entertainment.
The Kite Festival draws an estimated 40,000 people, with numbers expected to be helped by the good weather forecast. It's just one of an array of events taking place this weekend across Bedford Borough. Mayor Dave will be attending the Colmworth Country Fayre later in the day, while many other events are happening across the rural area, including Emmaus Village Carlton's Family Fun Day.
Sunday 7th June sees the 'Run Bedford' 10k run, starting at 10am on the Embankment. Mayor Dave will be in attendance to support the run, which will include hundreds of competitors. Later on Sunday, he will help Bromham Parish Council officially open new play equipment at Bromham Mill at their event at noon (on til 4pm), before presenting the trophy at Bedford and District Cerebral Palsy Society's charity football tournament at AFC Kempston Rovers (taking place from 10am - 2pm)
Commenting, Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "Bedford Borough is a great place to be to enjoy events for all ages, especially through the summer, and this weekend provides a n excellent example of this. The Kite Festival is always a fantastic free event for all ages, offering a wonderful spectacle, and this weekend will be no exception."
