Leisure Facilities Enhancements Continue with Opening of Refurbished Driving Range
The latest upgrade to Bedford Borough Council's leisure facilities being delivered as part of a £3million upgrade programme has been opened by Mayor Dave Hodgson. Mayor Dave opened the newly-refurbished driving range at Mowsbury Golf and Squash Centre in Bedford recently and, as shown in this photo, received a few tips from club professional James Koncewicz while he was there!
The refurbishment was carried out by Fusion Lifestyle who operate the centre in partnership with Bedford Borough Council. This arrangement began in 2014 after a deal was struck which safeguards alll of the Council's many leisure facilities for the next ten years and delivers £13 million of investment in the sites. The £25,000 upgrade of the driving range included refurbished bays, new carpet, bunkers, yardage signage and a cashless payment system.
Commenting, Mayor Dave Hodgson said:
"It is great to see how the investment in the Driving Range has been used to enhance the facility. We look forward to seeing more people of all ages using Mowsbury Golf and Squash Centre to play golf and enjoy events here. The summer Night-Time Golfing events, where balls with lights in them are used on the course, sound like particularly good fun!"
The Driving Range is open Monday - Friday 7:30am - 10:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 6:30am - 9:00pm, prices cost from £1.00 for 20 balls. Full details about Night Time Golf will be announced in the near future.
