Cllr Michael Headley Successfully Called For Added Protection For Mowsbury Park

New measures to protect Mowsbury Park from unauthorised traveller encampments are to be introduced following pressure from Liberal Democrat Councillors. At last nights Executive meeting it was agreed to introduce bollards, railings and a programme of tree planting along the parks boundaries in order to prevent unauthorised access.

Speaking following the meeting of the Executive Cabinet, Cllr Michael Headley, Lib Dem Group Leader and Councillor for Putnoe ward, said:

"Both Hillgrounds and Mowsbury Park have been used by travellers recently. Protecting just Hillgrounds left Mowsbury Park even more vulnerable, so I am very pleased that the Council have now responded to my request and have agreed to give protection to Mowsbury Park as well. This should help to stop the costs and disruption caused by the unauthorised access that we experienced this year".
