Borough Council Liberal Democrats are celebrating a successful win for Henry Rogers in the Borough Council elections for Goldington.

Henry who fought off strong opposition from the other parties is the first Muslim Liberal Democrat councillor on the Borough Council. This is the first time Henry has stood for election and he managed a win with a majority of 538 votes. At just 23 Henry will also be the youngest member of the council.

Speaking on the result Deputy Leader of the Lib Dems on the council, Christine McHugh said "This is a terrific result for the people of Goldington. Henry was an excellent candidate and clearly the people of Goldington realised this. He will be a great asset to the team in Goldington and the Lib Dems on the Council."

Henry added:

"I'm really proud to have been chosen by the people of Goldington as the person they want to represent them. I chose the Lib Dems because they allow a range of views to be heard. It's vital that councillor's stand up for the whole community and this is exactly the case for the Lib Dems. With more and more people feeling alienated from the political process it's vital that there are a range of views on the council to represent them."
