17 Feb 2006

At this weeks County Council meeting Lib Dem Cllr Gordon Willey criticised the County Council's borrowing. The Tory run County Council voted to borrow £35million pounds to finance projects throughout the county.

Cllr Gordon Willey during the meeting pointed out that this is borrowing to create taxing. Cllr Gordon Willey said during the meeting: 'We are funding NIRAH by a million pounds last year and a million pounds this year, borrowing this money costs the tax payer £170k a year, the £4m borrowing to fund the improvements to our roads will cost the tax payer £340k a year. This is spending to create taxing.'
