Lib Dems want to make music with the people of Bedfordshire

21 Feb 2006

At last week's County Council meeting the Tory-run County Council voted as part of their budget a cut to the funding of Bedfordshire¹s Music Service. This service is of importance to many children and adults within Bedfordshire.

The Tory-run County Council slashed this funding by £68k. Lib Dem Cllr Rosemary Bootiman expressed her concerns in the council meeting, suggesting that this service was playing'second fiddle, when they should be up front with the section leaders¹.

After the meeting Lib Dem Councillor Rosemary Bootiman said 'The worry is that this service provides many people with a positive activity, and parents already have to pay a large sum every term for their child to access the service. We hope that this cut will not increase the bill and that the detrimental impact is kept to a minimum.'
