Liberal Democrats propose repairs to much loved Jubilee Park community asset
On 10th July, Bedford Borough Council heard the importance of Jubilee Park’s skate park and basketball areas. A petition with 54 signatures was presented by mainly young people as local users in the Kingsbrook area, calling for repair to the skatepark ramps, resurfacing of the Multi User Games Area (MUGA ) and basketball areas, and installation of seating areas.
Councillor Dean Crofts, Ward councillor for Kingsbrook, was proud to propose a motion that the Council Executive back these proposals.
Cllr Crofts said,
“Our community's young people have bravely voiced their concerns and I am really pleased that we have been able to back them at the council. The skate park and the basketball/MUGA area are now in need of some further work and we must not leave our young people with fewer outlets for leisure and social interaction.”
“This facility is much needed in the area. I am therefore delighted that the whole council backed my motion that calls on the Council to maintain and improve this much-loved asset, including considering Section 106 money.”
“Committing to the long term future of Jubilee Skate park and the MUGA will send a message to our young people that they are valued and that their voice matters.”
