Earlier this month, Mayor Dave Hodgson visited Holywell Middle School and joined children from the schools taking part as collective tribute was paid to fallen soldiers at Cranfield War Memorial. Representatives of the Royal British Legion were also in attendance, along with retired Royal Navy Commander and battlefield tour guide, Tim Stoneman, the MP for Mid Beds and the leader of Central Beds Council.
Commenting, Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "This trip will no doubt be a moving experience for everyone involved. It is a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn more about the experiences of the soldiers, and about the sheer scale of the loss of life of servicemen. There will be much for the children to reflect on as they come together in remembrance, one hundred years on from the outbreak of World War One."
