Liberal Democrat Candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire, Jas Parmar, has responded to reports of police records being accidentally deleted.

Jas Parmar said: "The loss of 150,000 records from the Police National Computer is deeply concerning.

"The Police National Computer is a vital tool. It's particularly important for collating, cross referencing and in major investigations.

"The Home Secretary should urgently make a statement to outline exactly what has gone wrong and what steps are being taken to reassure the public."
