Lots Happening at The Higgins Bedford and libraries this half-term

With the February half-term nearby upon us, there is lots happening at The Higgins Bedford and at all of Bedford Borough Council's local libraries.

The Higgins Bedford is hosting a series of creative workshops and activities with 'Sweet Dreams' inspired by the 'Dreams and Nightmares' exhibition, in partnership with Little Science Labs, Red Phoenix Storytelling and Productions, and local artists.

Local artist Anne Marie Abbate is holding a 'Dreamcatchers' crafts sessions, on Tuesday 18 February. Children can create their own dreamcatcher to take home and capture the dreams that keep them awake (aimed at 4-11 year olds). Cost of £5 per child.

On Wednesday 19 February, local artist Katie Allen will be guiding children through making a surrealist collage, bringing life to the brightest colours in their heads (aimed at 4- 11 year olds). Cost of £3 per child.

Terrie Howie of Red Phoenix Storytelling and Productions will be hosting 'Dream Stories' on Thursday 20 February. Suitable for young people aged 8 - 14, they will be creating stories that capture their imagination, building confidence and inspiring creativity. Cost of £3 per child.

Then on Friday 21 February, Little Science Labs bring 'Dreamscapes'. Participants will be designing tiles to make them smile, using a bit of science and creative magic (aimed at 4-11 year olds). Cost of £5 per child.

All these sessions are held at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm and last for one hour, and children must be accompanied by an adult (under 4s that are accompanying siblings are welcome at no charge). Over at the libraries, there is a huge variety of craft sessions all completely free.

At Bedford Central Library, there is an animal theme with swirly snakes, frog making, and butterflies while Putnoe Library has got some crafts for the dressing up box with dinosaur masks and dressing up hats.

Its games galore at Kempston with Lego and dice warriors, along with crafts and colouring. It all starts with an 'F' for February at Bromham with fiery dragon masks, flower friendship cards, and feathered wing wooden owls. Then finally, in Wootton there is a bit of everything from bear masks, to unicorns, to rockets. Find out more in your local branch library.

There is always lots happening at our local museum and all our local libraries during the school holidays, and this half-term is no different. Whether you go to your local library to get out some books and do some crafts, visit the Higgins to have a wander, or get making in one of these fantastic sessions, there is lots to see and do.
