Love Your Local Market
Come to Bedford town centre this half term to celebrate Love Your Local Market week from Tuesday 31 May to Saturday 4 June 2016.
Along with the usual mix of markets the 'Hand Made in Town' craft stalls will be attending between Wednesday and Saturday. There will also be children's fairground rides in Harpur Square.
In addition Ark Farm, an education and mobile farm, will be in the town centre on Friday 3rd June from 11am-5pm. Ark Farm delivers a real hands on tactile learning experience for children of all ages through interaction with a number of farm animals.
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said "Bedford's Markets have been an important part of the town for 850 years. With footfall in Bedford town centre continuing to increase, our markets bring added vibrancy and colour to the town."
"There's a lot going on during Love Your Local Market week and we want to encourage people to get along and enjoy Bedford's markets during this event, and throughout the year."
Bedford's market history is celebrating its 850th birthday this year! The market dates back to 1166, when King Henry II allowed Bedfordians to hold their own market.
