Lib Dem Brickhill Councillor and Deputy Mayor Charles Royden is looking at ways to support and improve Bedford Town Centre with the introduction of a one way system to tackle congestion in and around Lurke Street Car Park Area.

Cllr Royden said "The one way scheme, which is currently out to consultation, will help to relieve a congestion hotspot and free up access to an improved Lurke Street multi-storey car park."

Improvements to Lurke Street Car Park include upgrades to the car park lighting, essential electrical works, lift replacement and proposed CCTV to monitor the new one way route. The car park will be closed between Sunday 24th September to Tuesday 26th September to complete the lighting upgrades and electrical works.

These improvements continue the Bedford Borough Lib Dems local strategy in investment in our roads and town centre.
