In a major boost for bus users with mobility issues, users of the Door to Door mobility service will no longer have to give up National Concessionary Travel Passes. From 1st April 2015 passengers who qualify for a free bus pass and Door to Door pass will be able to apply for both of these under a new pilot scheme.

To date, Door to Door users have had to choose between a National Concessionary Travel Pass or Door to Door pass. However, in a drive to ensure passengers with mobility issues are given the maximum flexibility and independence when using bus services, the Council and Door to Door have designed a new scheme so that two passes can now be used to travel.

Lib Dem Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said "This is great news for bus users who will no longer have to choose between their Door to Door and National Concessionary travel passes. We have worked closely with Door to Door to change a scheme that was restricting the movement of passengers. By allowing Door to Door users to also have a National Concessionary Pass we are ensuring that people with mobility issues can travel whenever and however they want to."
