Make Sure You Have Your Voice Heard
Parliament has decided we will have our first December General Election since 1923!
This election will be crucially important to the future of our country - regardless of how you vote. Please make sure you have your voice heard and ensure you are registered to vote.
It just takes five minutes to register and you have until midnight on 26th November to sign up. You can register at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
When registering you will be asked for your National Insurance Number, so please have it handy before you start the process.
Whilst we cannot be sure of the weather, we certainly know it will be dark early in the evening. Mayor Dave Hodgson is urging local residents to apply for a postal vote.
The deadline to register for a postal vote is also 26th November, but at 5pm. You can download a form to fill in at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apply-for-a-postal-vote or at https://www.bedford.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/elections-and-voting/postal-voting/. The form needs to be signed and returned, you can now scan the form and return by email to electoral.registration@bedford.gov.uk if that is easier than posting it back to the Council.
If you want to vote in person, the Polling Stations will be open between 7am and 10pm. There may be a few changes to venues due to the short notice of the election, please do check your polling card when it arrives or online to check the locations.
