Mayor Dave and Sir Ed Davey MP visit sustainable start-up EVIOS
Last week Mayor Dave Hodgson welcomed Sir Ed Davey MP to Stewartby where they visited EVIOS, a start-up business that manufactures electric vehicle charging points. The Liberal Democrat Leader also praised Mayor Dave for his work bringing new jobs to the Borough and supporting sustainable businesses.
Sir Ed Davey MP said "I'm here to support one of the best Mayors in the whole country, Dave Hodgson. Mayor Dave is doing a fantastic job here in Bedford and he's up for re-election. It's a fight between him and the Conservatives here, but he's got such a great record.
"Whether it's bringing jobs and we're in a new factory that he opened just a little while ago. It's great because [this company is] about green technology, it's about electric vehicle chargers. It's the sort of thing that he's been promoting to make sure that the economy of Bedford is strong, so people have got jobs and good jobs."
EVIOS, a British start-up business supporting the adoption of clean mobility solutions that manufactures innovative domestic charge points for electric vehicles. EVIOS employ around 60 people in the local area, including app developers, production managers, electrical engineering, installations, sales, and customer support.
Mayor Dave said "Thank you to EVIOS for having us back here. It is has been fantastic to see how they operate again, developing new EV chargers for homes across the country. It is so important that we are attracting businesses like EVIOS, who prioritise sustainability, so that our Borough can be a leading area in terms of green technology and innovation."
Since 2009, Mayor Dave has encouraged hundreds of businesses to come to Bedford Borough, creating and protecting over 8,000 new jobs.
