Mayor Dave Helps Launch Remarkable Charity Challenge

Mayor Dave was on hand this morning to launch the first in a 'remarkable' hat-trick of challenges by local charity campaigner Ken Parsons.

Mayor Dave posted photos of the event on his Facebook page, where he commented:

"The amazing Ken Parsons asked me along this morning to sound the airhorn for the start of the first of his remarkable challenges in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Ken is running from Bedford to London over 3 days to collect his race number for the London Marathon. I sent him on his way this morning and he will pick up his number on Friday.

He is then running the London Marathon on Sunday with a full 25lb army issue ruck sack (Fan Dance pack). As you can see I had a hold of the ruck sack this morning, and can vouch for its weight!

He's then running the Fan Dance, a gruelling 24km SAS Selection test march, on 6th July.
