Mayor Dave Hodgson - Standing Up for Bedford Borough, Saving Services and Creating Jobs
With just a few days until polling day in the local elections on Thursday, Mayor Dave Hodgson has asked voters to support him in the Mayoral contest to maintain the record which has enabled Bedford Borough to avoid the widespread cuts and closures seen elsewhere in recent years.
He has also set out his record of delivering dramatic jobs growth, saving vital services and standing up for Bedford Borough on key issues, with a promise of more if re-elected.
Commenting on his Facebook page, Mayor Dave said:
"I'm continuing to make a positive case for re-election on my record and a promise of more:
• More Jobs, with almost 16,000 more people in work - a much higher jobs growth since I was elected than the regional or national rate
• More saving vital services, and keeping council tax down - despite massive government funding cuts.
• More standing up for Bedford Borough, fighting our corner as I have done on issues like Bedford Hospital, Putnoe Walk-in Centre and our rail services.
...and a lot else besides, such as protecting our environment and keeping Bedford moving with a £25 million road resurfacing plan and a major decongestion programme.
There is a lot at stake in these local elections. Across the country in recent years communities have suffered widespread cuts to services and closures of cherished facilities such as libraries. But not in Bedford Borough. Don't put that at risk - please support me in the Mayoral election on Thursday.
