Mayor Dave Looks Back at a Summer of Events to Remember
Mayor Dave Hodgson has marked the official start of autumn by saying a big 'thank you' to everyone who helped make this summer an exciting summer of events across Bedford Borough.
He has posted a series of photos from events this summer on his Facebook page, with the following comment:
"With summer now officially over, I want to take a brief look back and say a big thanks to everyone who organised, took part in or simply visited and enjoyed any of the fantastic events which happened across the Borough.
We've fought to save our free summer events in the face of the unprecedented funding cuts while sadly many have been cut elsewhere, and this year's High Street Showcase, Kite Festival and the 40th Anniversary River Festival were reminders of why they're so important.
Volunteers have a big part of making each of those events what they are, and of course it's not just the Council-run events that make for such a vibrant array of events locally
From Taste Bedford to Bedfringe to events across the rural area including the incredible number of village fetes and shows, the hard work of individuals and groups around the Borough helped make this a summer to remember!"
