Mayor Dave Opens New 3G pitch at Mark Rutherford School
Mayor Dave Hodgson has officially opened the new 3G pitch at Mark Rutherford School in Bedford, provided by BAYS Sporting Facility.
The pitch will be a base for Bedford Park Rangers Youth Football Club, allowing the club to grow and provide top class coaching to the young people of the area. Mayor Dave was joined at the event by Newnham Ward Liberal Democrat Cllr Jake Sampson, who used to play for Bedford Park Rangers.
The pitch was designed by Surfacing Standard and constructed by Cleveland Land Services. It uses the very latest 3G grass techonology with low energy LED floodlighting.
Dave said "Thank you to Andy Rounding and all at BAYS Sporting Facility who made this 3G pitch possible and for everything they are doing locally to promote football. I was delighted as well as current players, we have former players here today, including Jake Sampson, who in May became the youngest ever Councillor on Bedford Borough Council."
Dave added "I know BAYS are keen to also work with local charities using this facility and proivde coaching to support and develop people of all abilities and particularly focussing on children and adults from disadvantaged backgrounds, those with disabilities and mental health issues. I am pleased this work has already started with the YMCA."
