Mayor Dave - Proud of Bedfordshire on Historic County Flag Day and Throughout the Year
It's Historic County Flag Day today and the Bedfordshire County Flag has been flying high at Borough Hall, with Mayor Dave Hodgson declaring that he's proud that Bedford is the County Town. He also declared that the County's heritage, beautiful and vibrant towns mean there's 'a lot to celebrate' about Bedfordhsire not just on days like today but throughout the year.
Mayor Dave said: "Bedfordshire is a small yet diverse county with a rich history and culture, and I'm proud that Bedford is the county town. We'll be flying the Bedfordshire flag with pride on County Flag Day, just as we do on Bedfordshire Day on 28th November.'
"However, we should also promote Bedfordshire and all of its fantastic communities throughout the year. With its heritage, its beautiful countryside and vibrant towns, there's a lot to celebrate."
Commenting on Facebook as he posted a photo of the flag flying at Borough Hall, Mayor Dave added:
"Great to see the Bedfordshire flag flying proudly at Borough Hall today on Historic County Flag Day!'
"While Bedfordshire is a historic county, the flag itself was formally recognised by the Flag Institute in 2014. You can read more about the flag and what the design represents on Friends of Bedfordshire Society's website here
