Mayor Dave Hodgson has urged people to support their local markets, following a visit to Kempston Market earlier today.

Bedford Borough's markets have a proud history, with Bedford Borough's royal charter granted in 1166 - the second oldest in the country. There are a range of markets through the week, with details available here on the Bedford Borough Council website here: https://www.bedford.gov.uk/business/markets/

You can see a range of photos from Mayor Dave's visit to Kempston market on his Facebook page here, where he commented:

"Kempston market takes place every Thursday at the Saxon Centre, and I enjoyed popping along earlier to chat to some of the traders and pick up some fresh food.'

"Whether it be the Bedford Charter Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Kempston market on Thursdays, the home and garden market in Bedford on Fridays or other specialist markets, I strongly recommend a visit.'

"They bring colour, character and trade to our towns, so please support your local markets!'
