Mayor Dave's Village Tour Thanks
Mayor Dave Hodgson has said a big 'thank you' to everyone who came out to speak to him during his 2018 Summer Village Tour.
He also uploaded a collection of photos taken during the tour on his facebook page, together with the following message:
"My 2018 Summer Village Tour came to an end earlier this month, and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out to talk to me about the issues that matter to them and to their communities.
I've held a summer village tour every year as Mayor, holding open street surgeries to make it as easy as possible for people to talk to me and raise anything they want to. This year I held those surgeries in 58 villages, and talked to hundreds of people (and a number of dogs!).
The most common issue raised was once again speeding traffic. This high level of concern is why I made Bedford Borough the very first place in the country to install the more effective average speed cameras on residential roads, and we are continuing to roll out targeted measures against speeding (the Government keeps every penny of fines, by the way)
Other issues raised included broadband speeds, traffic congestion, the Local Plan and much more besides.
Whatever people's reasons for coming out to speak to me, I am grateful to everyone who did. Thank you!"
