Mayor Dave Hodgson has thanked everyone who came out to see him last weekend on his annual Village Tour across Bedford Borough, as the first half came to a close. This year's tour, which Mayor Dave has held every summer as Mayor, will see him hold open, walk-up street surgeries in almost 60 villages right across Bedford Borough.

Writing on his Facebook page, Mayor Dave wrote:

"A big thanks to everyone who came out to see me last weekend as the first half of my Annual Village Tour came to a close. I've held walk-up street surgeries in 32 of Bedford Borough's villages so far, and once again it's been fantastic to talk to people in their community about what matters to them.

That's what my Village Tour is all about - making it as easy as possible for people to talk to me in person about the key issues for them and for their community.

A busy day on Saturday began in Shelton, with Lower and Upper Dean, Yielden, Swineshead, Melchbourne, Knotting, Souldrop, Carton and finally Felmersham after that. Issues covered included speeding traffic, the failing rail services, potholes, local plan, broadband speeds and more.

Sunday was the same again: Sunshine, surgeries and speeding traffic, or at least discussions about that and much more besides. The first visit was to Pertenhall, and then on to Keysoe, Bolnhurst, Colmworth, Little Staughton, Staploe, Duloe, Wootton, Wixams and Wilstead. Again, I'm really grateful to everyone who came out and talked to me. I'll be working through all of the casework as soon as possible!

Pictured are some of those who came out to help me, namely Cllrs Sawyer, Royden, Rider and Gerard, who all braved the heat while also enjoying just how beautiful north Bedfordshire villages look in the sunshine.

There are 26 more villages on my schedule for the second half of the Village Tour, which follows later in the summer. I'll be publishing the full schedule shortly, so if I've not been to your village yet, you will see it on there, as well as receiving information through your door in advance on when and where I'll be."
