Mayor Dave supports new businesses and jobs coming to Bedford Borough
Over the last month Mayor Dave Hodgson has welcomed a number of new businesses who have made Bedford Borough their home and are creating new jobs locally. Mayor Dave has made it a priority to ensure the Borough supports new opportunities for business, jobs and skills development following the pandemic.
There have been a wide variety of companies that have recently moved to Bedford Borough. Mayor Dave recently opened Symbiosis Care's new Head Office. Symbiosis Care provide care, support and quality accommodation for adults with mental health and/or learning disabilities who historically have had many placement breakdowns and long secure psychiatric hospital stays. Their expansion has also resulted in new jobs for a number of Bedfordians.
Mayor Dave welcomed IDC's new Menu Fresh Service to the Borough. Based at Fuse in Wixams Menu Fresh is a new and exciting service designed for independent restaurants, hotels, and gastro pubs. They have a simple ordering service for the reliable delivery of high quality, local food, all at very competitive prices.
Mayor Dave also helped to launch Evios' new HQ building in Stewartby Business Park. Evios designs, manufactures and distributes electric vehicle charging points for homes and business locations. Their arrival adds to the growing number of companies operating in the green energy and manufacturing sector locally and creating job opportunities for local people.
Mayor Dave said "It's so important that we invest in our local economy to attract businesses and high skilled jobs for our residents. Bedford Borough has great potential thanks to our fantastic education and skills development centres. It is our job to help unlock this potential by supporting new businesses and promoting the Borough wherever we can.
"One of the ways we have done this is through the Jobs Hub. I am incredibly proud of the Jobs Hub and the results have confirmed how important it has been that we have invested in this service."
The Council's Jobs Hub has been influential in helping people into work and it recently marked its 10th anniversary. In the last ten years the Jobs Hub has provided advice and support to over 50,000 people and helped over 4,000 people into work, education and self-employment.
