Mayor Dave - Thanks to all Following a Fantastic Kite Festival Weekend
Mayor Dave Hodgson has thanked everyone involved in a packed weekend of free family festival fun in Bedford, following the International Kite Festival and first Bedford Festival of Motoring at Russell Park and the Embankment.
There were an estimated 30,000 visitors over the weekend enjoying the spectacle provided the kite flyers from around the world in Russell Park, the 300 vehicles on show on the Embankment, the 'Party in the Park' on Saturday evening and more, including funfair rides and food & drink in the park and 'come and try it' activities by Canoe Trail.
Commenting, Mayor Dave said: "A big thanks to all involved with what was a fantastic weekend. It was great to see so many people in Russell Park and on our beautiful Embankment, with kites, cars, canoes and music all coming together. Bedford is a town of events, and along with all partners involved, we are pleased to have maintained and expanded this free festival for people to visit and enjoy.'
"This year's event was of course even bigger than before with the first Motoring Festival, music night and activities on the river joining the spectacular kite-flying displays."
