Mayor Dave Hodgson yesterday attended the launch of the latest 'BedPop' Pop-Up shop at 68 High Street, Bedford, where two small Bedfordshire businesses will be trading until Saturday. for a unique chance to see what it's like to have a shop in a major town centre.

Sue Lang from 'The Beesness' who currently sells her jams, honey & other preserves at farmers' markets & craft events, and Mark & Val Howson from 'Garden Friends Farm Shop & Vegetable Box Scheme' who currently work from their cabin based in Roxton Garden Centre selling Bedfordshire grown vegetables and deliver veg boxes in Bedford, have taken up the challenge to get a feel of what it would be like to be based in Bedford town centre.

Pictured in this photo with Mayor Dave as he said a few words to welcome the launch of the shop are Sue Lang and Mark Howson, of The Beesness and Garden Friends, respectively.

Commenting, Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "This is another exciting initiative for Bedford High Street, and I wish The Beesness and Garden Friends good luck for an enjoyable and prosperous week here in the heart of Bedford Town Centre. Congratulations and thanks also to the landlord of the property and the surveyors Stimpsons Eves, and to Erica Roffe of the Bedford Clanger and all of the volunteers who have helped make BedPop a hub of innovation and enterprise in what would otherwise simply be an empty unit."
