Mayor Dave Hodgson described Alistair Cook's century in his final test innings as a 'fitting end to a wonderful England career' as he wished the former Bedford schoolboy congratulations on his fairytale farewell during England's fifth and final test versus India at the Oval last week.

Commenting after seeing the news of Cook's hundred, Mayor Dave said: "Delighted to learn that former Bedford schoolboy Alastair Cook scored a century in his final ever test innings. A fitting conclusion to a wonderful England career - congratulations!‬"
